I thought I would share with you all today this great hat box I purchased at a flea market about 2 years ago, that’s right 2 years ago! It has been sitting around just waiting for me to paint something on it, so I finally had decided I wanted to paint this adorable pattern I had for Santa and the Angel.

I am not very good at painting faces and it is something I try to avoid, but I know I am missing out on a wonderful opportunity to expand my artistic talent.  So I thought I would use this great hat box to try my hand at painting Santa’s face and the side view of this adorable Angel.

I will admit I really struggled with the facial features and repainted and repainted several area’s and when I paint this pattern again I will change a few things that I am not happy with this time around, but in the end I feel it turned out pretty well and I am very happy with my self for giving it a try. I am sure my family will be very happy, I plan on filling up this great hat box with some holiday baking goodies for them!

I have another round shaker box that has been sitting around for while, I think  its time to dust it off and practice another face on that one as well, when I finished I will be sure to share the final piece with you.

Hand painted sunflowers grace this beautiful pot which has been base coated in a very pale green. The inside of the flower pot has been clear glazed so it is ready for your favorite plant when it arrives. The exterior of the flower pot has been sealed with several coats of exterior varnish to protect the painting.

This Flower pot measures aprox. 7″ tall x 8″ across, the inside of dish is clear glazed as well and there is a hole for drainage in the bottom of the pot.

I had hanging in one of our powder rooms 3 metal wall hangings, one was of a Dolphin Fish, a Sailfish and a Sea Horse. These 3 pieces are metal of some sort and painted black. I don’t know where I got them from but decided they needed some color. So out came the paint brushes.

As you can see from the picture, the paint was beginning to peel, so after I gave the pieces a good scrub, I took some sand paper and lightly roughed up the surface of the paint to give it some tooth for the paint to adhere to.

My powder room colors are blues, pinks, teals so I went with that color scheme. First I painted the Dolphin Fish with a very Dark Green Acrylic Paint, and applied a second coat for complete coverage, then I lightly dried brushed a lighter shade of green and another shade lighter again.  Then I started to apply my other colors. I dried brushed my pink, blues, teals and a little yellow. With this type of painting you can’t mess up you just apply the shades until you have it just the way you want. When  I had the shading as I wanted I applied 3 coats of exterior/interior varnish.

I think he turned out pretty good and is going to look great on the walls of my powder room.

Beautiful Floral Hummingbird Design Grocery Tote!

Hand painted reusable Grocery Tote Bag features a hand painted Floral  design with a Hummingbird.

This Large Grocery Tote Bag is made of a “non-woven” poly material measuring aprox. 15″x16″ with a 3″ gusset. The totes handles measure aprox. 26″ long.

Tote bags are hand painted using acrylic paint and fabric medium making these bags hand washable. All tote bags have been heat treated. Tote bags can be hand washed and hung up to dry.

Pelican Sunset Beach Scene

This design is hand painted on a standard post mailbox but can also be painted on a wall mount, T2 or T3 size mailboxes.

The design is hand painted on both sides of the mailbox and the front and back of the mailbox have been painted as well.

This cookie jar measures aprox. 6″ tall x 10 1/2″ long,  I have clear glazed the inside of the jar with a food safe glaze. The exterior has been hand painted with acrylic paint and sealed with several coats of exterior/interior varnish.

This piece is meant to be hand washed on the inside and gently wiped down on the outside.
